"in steps" is written for five amplified voices and one performer controlling on/off switches to each one of the microphones.
The starting points for the composition of these pieces was my interest in step sequencers and step sequence patterns as well as the possibility of simulating/faking a kind of “downsampling“ of the human voices through the quick on and off switching of microphones.
The different episodes in each one these pieces are based on different program functions and patterns of classic step sequencers/drum machines.
